forcing functions
It has been another whirlwind week, gearing up for a bunch of filming in our home, repainting about 40% of the house, making a bunch of small miscellaneous changes, and prepping for the backyard sauna.
It's nice to have a forcing function that lets you knock out a bunch of items that have been bugging you for years. I love how small changes, like painting one room, help you to understand better what to do in the next room. It's like seeing with fresh eyes in your own home. Going to be a pretty dreamy situation around here by the end of this month.
Very excited to report that I've found a way to incorporate this great wallpaper from Isidore Leroy.
Now that the workers have their marching orders, we're safe to head back out on a quick trip to the Gulf. This will be year three: a bunch of families, all with young kids the same age, in a big house on the beach. Outside of our Christmas talent show party, it is probably my favorite thing we do all year.
While I'm down there, the plan is to make a banger video about Seaside, Rosemary & Alys Beach. I remember discovering the whole Andres Duany / DPZ / New Urbanism universe years back and getting completely carried away with it, and it's time to do it justice.
Hope to bring you some boots-on-the-ground intel a week from now.
some things i saw this week
How about this chandelier & side table by French craftsmen Etienne Marian Marc? In another life, this is what I'd do. Obsessed.
Duck tile from Artkafle via Etsy. I love Etsy, lots of winners, you just need to dig. Slighly yassified hunting lodge? Pastoral country steam shower? Ski resort coffee shop backsplash? Few are brave enough, but it really makes you think.
The Delt tile look seems to have gone fully mainstream, and I'm noticing it slipping into clothing. I think this is cool.
